キリギリス最新作は、モントリオールのレーベル、 Jeunesse Cosmique とのコラボレーションです。Baccam / Chayer とBroken Shoulder のスプリットをCDRとカセットテープでリリースします。

Baccam / Chayer は、Chittakone Baccam と Yannick Chayer によるユニットです。民族楽器や自作の楽器、テープによるループを使って独特の世界観を作り出しています。本作では、２つのノイズ音を根底に、作品名である ‘Les Angoisses Nocturnes’ (夜の苦悩)を表しています。

Broken Shoulder のセクションは、同時に録音した4曲が収録されています。今は壊れてしまった古いキーボードを使った演奏に、自宅や旅先で録音したフィールドレコーディングを織り交ぜ、最後にギターも加えて作成しました。「夜の苦悩」に対する「昼のめまい」。前作のHashiridaseを4つの短い曲に蒸留させた作品となっています。

Our latest release is a two act, two label, two format collaboration between Montreal’s Baccam / Chayer and Broken Shoulder, Jeunesse Cosmique and Kirigirisu and CDR and tape.

Baccam / Chayer is a collaboration between Chittakone Baccam (Hazy Montagne Mystique) and Yannick Chayer. Their music is a decomposition of pieces written in symbols with the help of invented instruments, tape loop and ethnic instruments. ‘Les Angoisses Nocturnes’ (in English, maybe nocturnal anxiety), is made up of two slabs of improvised noise. Listen out for the acid saxophone and noise totoro.

Broken Shoulder’s section is made up of four tracks made at the same time from a simple set up using the same limited palette of sounds. It’s mostly my favorite old keyboard which now seems to have broken combined with some field recordings taken at home and whilst traveling and a little bit of guitar thrown in there at the last minute. This time there is no nighttime anguish but more of a daytime disorientation with a bit of churning in there too. It feels like the natural development of the long pieces on Hashiridase but distilled into smaller pieces.

Incredible work! Not precisely drone by my terms, but drone enough for me to say that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, which is why I love drone in the first place! Such nuanced, yet raw sounds! Highly recommended! I have no idea how this label finds such great and lesser known artists. TARANTULA FACE

There's a lovely subtlety at play here, where I can't tell what's looping and what's not. Despite the titles not offering much in the way of explanation, I think there's humor, nostalgia, and great care in this collection. Ned Milligan
