Glen SteenkisteとDavid Colohanは、どちらも過去 20 年にわたって実験的なドローンとフォークミュージックの分野で活動してきました。 Steenkiste はベルギー出身で、Hellvete としてのソロ活動や Silvester Anfang/Sylvester Anfang II の一員としての活動で最もよく知られています。 Colohanはアイルランドに住んでおり、Raising Holy Sparks という名前で音楽を制作しており、United Bible Studies やその他の数多くのプロジェクトやバンドの一員として活動しています。二人が初めて会ったのは10年以上前ですが、「Poldertocht」は彼らの最初のコラボレーション作品です。フランダースとオランダの「干拓地」にインスピレーションを得た「Poldertocht」は、Steenkisteが子供のころ育ち、Father Sloowにこの神秘的な土地を紹介されてColohanが恋に落ちた場所です。この土地を想像力豊かに歩くためのサウンドトラックです。人類が海から勝ち取ったものであり、海から吹く冷たい北西風の翼に乗って幽霊や物語が時代を超えて伝わり、今でもその歴史と力をこの地に思い出させます。

Glen Steenkiste and David Colohan have both been active in experimental drone and folk music for the past two decades. Steenkiste works from Belgium and is best known for his solo work as Hellvete and as part of Silvester Anfang/Sylvester Anfang II. Colohan resides in Ireland where he makes music under the moniker of Raising Holy Sparks and is part of United Bible Studies and numerous other projects and bands. The two first met over a decade ago. Since then they have shared bills, stages and drinks. But “Poldertocht” is their first recorded collaboration. Inspired by the Flemish and Dutch “polders”, where Steenkiste grew up as a child and which Colohan fell in love with after Father Sloow introduced him to this piece of mystic land, “Poldertocht” provides a soundtrack for an imaginative walk through the land that was won from the sea by mankind, where ghosts and stories travel through the ages on the wings of the cold northwest winds that come from over the sea and still remind the land of its history and its power.
